Shawn B. Cox

B. Shawn Cox is an Austin-based multimedia artist whose diverse work has been exhibited and collected throughout the United States in both private and corporate collections. He has degrees in Architecture and Law but has maintained and developed an evolving art practice for over 30 years. Cox’s most recent series of western icons is often based on or derived from personal or found vintage photographs. Cox's work attempts to capture, reinterpret and share a moment in time. The inspiration for this series comes from vintage images, advertising, architecture, magazines, 80’s pop music and literature. Cox is drawn to narratives, humor, cliché, irony, color texture and layered meanings.
