Dimmitt Contemporary Art is pleased to announce a joint exhibition by Michael Dines and Grace Dines. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00pm at our Austin gallery. The exhibition will be on view through Novemeber 29, 2025.
In THE ARBOREAL, Michael and Grace explore the power, poetry, and perception of the natural world, each through their distinct lens and medium. The exhibition celebrates both the generational and creative dialogue that emerges when two artists, bound by kinship and curiosity, interpret the natural world with unique voices.
Michael Dines’ large-scale landscapes capture nature’s vast emotional resonance, the quiet grandeur of shifting skies, and the deep pull of open horizons. His paintings invite immersion in the sublime, where the atmosphere becomes both subject and sensation. Through scale and subtlety, he evokes a timeless space of contemplation and awe.
Grace Dines turns inward to the intimate and ephemeral. Her abstract botanical compositions, created with powder pigment on paper, distill nature to its softest gestures: the blur of perception, the trace of form, and the whisper of tone. Emerging from her fascination with out-of-focus photography, her works transform the act of seeing into a meditation on presence and perception.
Together, their practices form a poetic dialogue between vastness and detail, realism and abstraction, the seen and the sensed. THE ARBOREAL celebrates a shared sensitivity to the natural world, revealing how different generations and approaches can converge in a mutual pursuit of beauty, stillness, and understanding.
