Dimmitt Contemporary Art Houston is pleased to announce Color Songs, a solo exhibition of new works by artist Donald Martiny. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 5:00 - 8:00pm with the artists in attendance. The exhibition will be on view through May 9, 2025.

Color Songs marks Donald Martiny’s highly anticipated second solo exhibition with Dimmitt Contemporary Art. In this collection of work, Martiny takes color to new dimensions, turning his sculptural brushstrokes into vibrant, space-filling pieces that offer an interplay between hue, form, and the surrounding environment. Using a unique blend of paint, pigments, and polymers, Martiny creates lyrical, abstract expressionist paintings. With bold energy and a deep understanding of the interplay between material and form, Martiny continues to explore the boundless possibilities of abstraction and the emotional impact of color and shape.

Donald Martiny (b. 1953 Schenectady, New York) currently lives and works in Ivoryton, CT. He studied at the School of the Visual Arts, The Art Students League in New York, New York University and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Donald’s work is in the permanent collections of the One World Trade Center in New York City; the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, CA; the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth, TX; the Newcomb Art Museum at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA; the FWMoA, Fort Wayne, IN and the Lamborghini Museum in Bologna, Italy as well as the Grahm Gund Family Foundation, Cambridge, Las Vegas Art Museum, Las Vegas, NV; The Phoenix Art Museum, Phoenix, City of Pont de Claix, France and Los Angeles International Airport.
