Madeleine Walton’s work explores the intersection of porcelain with patterns, textures, hues, and organic elements. Porcelain, with its delicate nature and surprising resilience, provides a unique foundation for her practice. Through meticulous manipulation and exposure to 2200° temperatures, her pieces embody a timeless quality that bridges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. This fusion of styles allows her work to span from intimate adornments to large-scale installations.

Influenced by contemporary grid structures and inspired by her grandmother’s weaving books, Walton’s work integrates modern concepts with time-honored techniques. Her practice, based in Philadelphia, reflects both national and international influences. As a natural introvert, her work portrays an internal persona, inviting viewers to engage in a shared experience of her creative process. Throughout her practice, she seeks to preserve fragments of time and provide a visual reprieve, exploring depth and shadow in new and engaging ways.
